My name is Trevin and my love for performing began when I was very young: reenacting films, dancing, and singing at every given opportunity. I remember my first (albeit nerve-racking) solo in the choir at church — the terror, the thrill, and the joy was unforgettable. Coming from a sports-oriented family, I also fell in love with athletics, playing basketball from the time I could walk. My evenings growing up were spent at practice, Jody Burgess’s Jump-Shot School, or in the backyard shooting free-throws.
I first dipped my toe in the theatre when I was 10 years old. Mrs. Hall’s fifth-grade production of Oz the Great and Powerful was glitzy, energetic, and dare I say transcendent? Nevertheless, after the show’s one-night run, I returned to the home I made for myself on the basketball court. By the time I was a freshman, I was pretty burned out with basketball and decided to take “one” season off to try performing in the spring musical. “One” season turned into all of the seasons and I never looked back.
Throughout my time at Otterbein, my love for musical theatre evolved into a love for story telling — whether it be on the stage, on the page, or with a camera — I want to tell nuanced, truthful, and entertaining stories. Stories that encourage people to see the world for what it is: a playground created for us to encourage one another, to speak truth in love, and to breathe life into those feeling weighed down by their burdens and shame.
